Congratulations! You’ve completed your yoga teacher training and you can share your passions and your dreams with the rest of the world! You’ve just completed one of the most important steps in your career! However, you may be asking; what comes next?
Today, we’ll explore several things you should do now that you’re qualified, giving you the best foundation for your yoga career!
Sort Out Your Files
The first thing you’ll want to do to make things really easy for you is to sort out your files. This means buying an actual file. Inside, you’ll want to put in a copy of your certification and a list of all the classes and studios you’ve worked in or attended. If you have actual attendance records, even better! This will be so helpful when applying for jobs.
Safety Training
Yup, that’s right, back to school again. You never know when someone might try and push their limits in your class. More commonly, you simply never know what will happen in your class. Since you will be the authoritative figure, it’s up to you to handle the situation.
Get yourself CPR trained and keep your certificate in your file.
Get Insured
As above, you never know what’s going to happen but if someone breaks their leg, you won’t want to risk your business, especially if it’s not your fault. Take out Yoga Liability Insurance so you know that you’re covered in the worst-case scenario.
Start Small
If a job has you, a newly-qualified instructor and a trainer with 30 years’ experience, the chances are that they’ll get the job, unless you really sell yourself.
However, you’re not expected to jump straight in at the deep end. Contact gyms, yoga studios, and private tutors. See if they would be happy in you working together, joining their classes and overall just helping them out. You never know what opportunities this could open up for you.
Brand Yourself
If you’re looking to going online, the first thing you’ll want to do is to start a website. This will help people get in contact with you and you’ll be able to market yourself from your website. It may seem like a very simple website to begin with but don’t worry, it will build up over time.
Set Your Prices
You don’t want to get to a point where someone asks you for private lessons but you’re unsure of the price. Will you charge by the hour, by the lesson, or monthly? Will you hold classes? How much are you going to charge?
While building your website, it’s a great idea to set a price list to work from. Don’t worry, these prices can be changed whenever you want but for now, you’ll need a foundation.
Be Patient
As with anything in life, good things will come to those who work hard. Be motivated by yourself, feel inspired and always look out for new opportunities. Plans will start to fall into place when you put in the right amount of time and effort.
Be the best you can be in everything you do!
