Me, and a tonne of other bloggers on the internet are always stating how things like meditation and yoga should be completed in the morning as early as possible. I personally recommend doing it as the first thing you do when you get up and out of bed.
However, to many of us, getting up a 6 am and jumping straight into a form of exercise doesn’t really sound too appealing. However, I believe yoga is one of the best things you can do for your body and it’s beneficial any time of the day.
But, are there are benefits to actually doing it in the mornings? Today, we’ll explore three key reasons why yoga should be your preferred way to start your day.
Improving Your Diet
I’m going to start with a point that not many people look at. If you do yoga as the first you do in the morning, you’ll become aware of whether or not your diet was what your body needed the day before. For example, if you get up, jump onto your yoga mat, you may start to feel bloated, gassy and might not feel like you have a lot of energy.
As we sleep, our bodies are still very much at work, digesting food and refuelling our muscles. However, if you feel like the above, the chances are that your diet wasn’t very good yesterday. However, if you get onto your yoga mat and you feel alive and energised, you’ve served your body well. This knowledge can help massively when it comes to eating a proper, healthy diet.
Set the Pace for the Day Ahead
Starting yoga in the morning mean you’re setting the time aside, whether it’s ten minutes or an hour, to focus on your breathing. Have you ever had the feeling where you’ve realised your late for work and you’ve had to rush out without really stopping? This feeling usually lasts the whole day and it’s not a great way to live. After all, it’s full of stress and anxiety.
However, by getting up and completing a yoga session, you’re setting your breathing for the rest of the day. This helps you stay cool, calm and collected, no matter what life has to throw at you.
Promotes a Healthy Day Ahead
The chances are that when you’ve finished your yoga routine in the morning, you’re going to be feeling pretty good. This means you’ll be feeling happy, energized and, most importantly, healthy. What a great way to start your day and since you’re feeling this alive, you’re going to want to keep it going.
This means when you start carrying out your jobs and eating food, you’ll be automatically making healthy decisions. You’ll be in the frame of mind to put your health first. This is one of the most positive ways you can feel about yourself!
